You're invited to our next EJN panel: Misinformation in the mainstream media
Wednesday 14 April, 1700-1830 EST (2200-2330 BST)

When we talk about misinformation, too often we talk about it like a problem restricted to social media or alternative media – but mainstream outlets play a huge role in spreading it, failing to restrict it, or even creating it themselves. Whether it's amplifying political lies or loaded narratives, or in propelling racist narratives, misinformation is a problem in mainstream media too.

To discuss what we can do to tackle it, we have a great expert panel – please come and join them for what should be a thought-provoking and challenging discussion.

The panel:
Emily Bell, Professor of Professional Practice at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and the Director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism
Alissa Richardson, Assistant Professor of Journalism at USC Annenberg and author of Bearing Witness While Black: African Americans, Smartphones and the New Protest #Journalism
Brooke Binkowski, managing editor, truthorfiction.com

Chair: James Ball, global editor of The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, EJN trustee and author of Post-Truth

ABOUT THE ETHICAL JOURNALISM NETWORK

The Ethical Journalism Network is an alliance of reporters, editors and publishers aiming to strengthen journalism around the world. We work to build trust in news media through training; education and research because we believe that fact-based communications delivered by well-trained and ethical media professionals are essential to help people better understand the world around them.

As a charity, we rely on donations to continue our work. If you would like to help us to support journalists striving to practise ethical journalism and build trust in media please consider contributing via the link above.

The EJN is a coalition of more than 70 groups of journalists, editors, press owners and media support groups from across the globe and we are growing. We are a registered UK charity and supervised by a Board of Trustees and an international network of advisors.
