Capricorn Film Festival announces entries open for Central Queensland’s annual film destination event.


Its official, filmmaker submissions for year six of the highly successful regional Queensland festival are open with the five-day film arts event to be held in mid January 2021, at the beautiful beachside tourist destination of Yeppoon.

Submission categories include feature film, documentary and short films with a total cash prize pool of $4,000 to be shared amongst the winners.

Of the five submission categories, two are Central Queensland specific, with the organisations goal to support the growth of regional filmmakers. 

Eight feature films and documentaries will be selected to screen throughout the event alongside the best of Central Queensland and international short films, totalling up to fifty regional premieres for attendees to enjoy. 

The feature films and documentaries selected to screen at the event will compete for the festivals long form awards, CAPS Feature and CAPS Doco. The categories winners will be chosen by the yet to be named Festival Jury, which will be made up of Australian film industry personal and key local identities. Feature and Documentary pre-selectors will take special interest in Australian made and empowerment stories to screen to the regions cinema lovers.

Festival organisers are expecting another record year for short film submissions the triumph of last year’s entries, with over 500 short film submissions.

 The three categories for the CAPS Short FIim Festival include CAPS Short, CAPS Open and CAPS Junior. CAPS Short is open to filmmakers from Australia and internationally. Short films from Bundaberg to Yeppoon will compete in two categories, CAPS Open for adults and CAPS Junior for students.

Entries are open till October 13th with official selections notified by October 19th
