Summer 2017 Update

We've had a beutiful spring and are looking forward to all of our summer camps and service groups to arrive!

Anticipation for camp is looming like a summer thunderstorm. We’ve had campers calling us at odd hours of the night making sure we hadn’t forgotten the wanted to come and every refrigerator on the mountain is bursting at its seams ready to feed the campers, volunteers, and Big Laurel staff.

Spring Gardening

Spring Gardening Photos

We spent this spring gardening with Kermit K8  students. We taught the square foot method of gardening and then assigned a square foot to each student to water, weed, and nurture. They were given the option of fast growing vegetables like beets, radishes, spinach, and leaf lettuce so they could harvest before summer vacation. Click here to see more pictures.

Grace's Gardening Reflection

“Try to keep them on the hard-top,” a voice calls after us as we race out the double doors at the end of the elementary hallway. The doors slam behind us, and our shoes slapping the soggy grass just past the sidewalk is the only answer the voice gets.
