Return on Life
Live Give Owe Grow
Tis the Season
In my bible study group last week the question was posed, “what are you looking forward to this Christmas and what are you dreading?” It was fun to think about and to hear the other answers. Here’s what I love about Christmas:
- It’s a Wonderful Life – my all-time favorite movie
- Christmas music
- The Hallmark Channel Christmas movies
I took a severe verbal beating for answer number 3. There are 2 unwritten rules among men that if you break them your ‘man card’ is pulled and you are no longer a member. The first is … never give too many details, especially to your wife. The second is … never admit to liking or watching the Hallmark Channel. Ouch!
I am a sucker for happy endings I guess. With so many depressing and awful stories in the news each day, a movie with a happy ending is a welcome relief. But if that’s the only happy ending we had to look forward to, life would be without much hope. The original Christmas story is full of love and hope. The idea that God would become one of us and enter into humanity to rescue us makes my heart soar.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
’Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
(O Holy Night)
May you feel the full weight of your worth this Christmas!
