Join Us for the Season of Sharing Group Ride with Metro BEST and LACBC!

Date: Sunday, December 19
Timeline: 10:00am - 1:00pm
Start/End: Union Station West Portal (800 N Alameda St., Los Angeles, CA 90012)
Route: Approximately 3-4 miles, mostly flat, low-traffic city streets

This Sunday, join LA County Bicycle Coalition and Metro Bike Share for this family-friendly, winter-themed ride to celebrate the Season of Sharing, sponsored by Metro’s Bicycle Education Safety Training (BEST) Program. The ride will begin at the Union Station West Portal Bike Share station and give riders a chance to experience the protected bike lanes along Main and Spring while we enjoy holiday décor around the neighborhood. Feel free to wear an ugly sweater or other holiday garb to add to our festive cheer!

Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable pantry and essential items that can be donated to a local food pantry / essentials drive as we uplift community and foster togetherness during this holiday season. The Metro Bike Share team will be collecting these items and delivering them to organizations before the holidays. Some suggested items include:

  • Canned goods (soup, beans, fruit, veggies, fish)
  • Dried goods (beans, fruit, herbs)
  • Shelf-stable milk and alternative milk
  • Peanut or other nut butters
  • Rice
  • Pasta and noodles
  • Diapers
  • Baby wipes
  • Personal hygiene/sanitary items

Pre-registration and attendance confirmation is required for all participants. Once you are registered, we will send you a waiver and location information to confirm your attendance. If you are attending with other family members, each person must be registered separately in order to attend. Register now to guarantee your spot!

Metro Bike Share will be making a limited number of bikes available to use for this event at no cost to the user. If you are interested in trying Bike Share, please reserve an "I need to borrow a bike" ticket when you register. All attendees who join this ride will also receive a code for a FREE 30-Day Metro Bike Share Pass redeemable at any time. You can redeem this code online at metro.net/bikeshare or in the Metro Bike Share app.

COVID-19 Safety Reminders

Our field staff continues to work and maintain a safe, clean, and reliable bike share system for those who need it. Please continue to practice the following safe riding habits when using Metro Bike Share:

  • 😷 Wear a mask when in public, when using Metro Bike Share stations and while riding in places where it is consistently challenging to maintain a safe distance from others.
  • 🧼 Always wash or sanitize your hands before and after your bike rides, and avoid touching your face.
  • 📏 Practice physical distancing between yourself and others while riding and when using a bike share station.
  • 🚫 Avoid large gatherings and gatherings of mixed households.
  • 📱 To facilitate social distancing and minimize surface contact at stations, use the Metro Bike Share app to purchase passes and unlock Metro Bikes with your smartphone.
For these tips and more, check out our Riding Tips page.
Reminder: Riders accept responsibility to properly return and secure Metro Bikes at the end of each trip. Never leave a Metro Bike unattended during your trip. Riders will be charged penalty fees up to $2,500 for missing, stolen or improperly docked bikes.
