A Visit to the Isles of Shoals with Celia Laighton Thaxter Part 1: "The History, Lore, & Legends of the Isles of Shoals” is a slide presentation that explores the rocky archipelago that lies just off the New Hampshire coast. In this program, actor and researcher Stephanie Voss Nugent introduces some of the hardy people who have lived on these islands over the past 500 years and shares tales of fishermen and pirates, ghosts and grand hotels, the lore and legends of the Isles of Shoals. The presentation includes archival photographs from the 1870s that chronicle the transformation of Star Island from the tiny fishing village of Gosport into an island resort. Q&A at the end of the event. This event is open to adults. Let us know if you'll be joining us!
