The regatta was held at Hervey Bay and run by Maryborough sailing club over the Easter long weekend. Eight Weta’s up on Friday to a wet and windy weekend with bouncy conditions and winds blowing from the Southeast at 20-25 knots.
Some very close racing resulted with the lead changing at times. Father and son duo, Glenn and Mitchell, won the first race sailing two-up with Peter second. Peter Hackett with his new Weta won the second race with Glenn and Mitchell second and Andres in third place.
In race Race three it was Glenn and Mitchell first, second was Andres and Dave Vockler leapt into third.
Andres bounded into the lead of race four with Glenn and Mitchell second and Peter third. In race five, the final race of the regatta, Glenn and Mitchell were pushed hard to stay ahead of Andres and won by a whisker only seven seconds ahead, third went to Peter.
Everyone enjoyed the weekend even though the weather was testing at times. The Queensland fleet have decided to make Hervey Bay our annual regatta at Easter.

Spray Top Revival
If your spray top is starting to feel more like a water jacket which absorbs rather than rejects water, then you can easily revive it with a Silicon Waterproof Spray.
While boating and camping stores will sell you an expensive product that is "designed" for outer wear - you can get equally good results using Seely Watershield silicone spray which sells for about 1/2 the price and is available from Bunnings, Mitre 10 and other fine hardware stores. (Tip: Don't spray it on the deck or tramps!)

Mast Track Repair
The mast track can easily be damaged when lowering the mast and sometimes in the process of lowering or raising the mainsail if it jumps out of the track. You can replace the damaged section with new track a minimum of 30cm in length but preparation and the right adhesive is the key. Details of the method here
