Among the long rolling south-facing slopes of the Stellenbosch winelands, caressed by cool coastal breezes, lies our boutique winery and vineyard. Here we produce premium, award-winning wines for the enlightened drinker.

2020 has a great ring to it. And with that I’d like to draw your attention to a wine that has been live for 6 months and is the first of many sustainable projects that we will be undertaking over the coming years. Global warming has been recognisable over the last year with the mild weather fronts taking us into the Christmas break. We have experienced much of the same during the start of 2020. One factor that has been the topic of many discussions over the years has been the global issue that is the polluting of our planet’s oceans and seas with rubbish  and plastic. So, with that in mind, we have some joyful news! We are collaborating with Laithwaites/Direct Wines on an ocean clean up wine, she goes by the name ‘Making Waves’ and it is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The perfect combo of juicy and fat, with some green fresh notes to really stimulate the pallet!  We also have ‘Breaking Waves’ sold in the USA.

Everything about this wine will be as sustainable as possible. We are using sustainably farmed parcels of Sauvignon and Semillon from our farm and other like-minded producers across the Western Cape. The bottle itself will be super lightweight glass that has of course been re-cycled. But the most exciting part about this wine is the contribution you will give when buying it - for every bottle sold an amount will be donated towards ‘The Ocean Clean-up’ charity.

In September last year we decided that we would help educate and welcome a young lady from the local township into the wine industry. We registered her with the Wine and Spirits Education Trust and enrolled her in her level 1 and 2 courses. We got the news in October that the wonderful Chantel Kiewiets passed her level 2 with a fantastic 70% - a massive well done from your extended JE family! Here is a picture of the smiling Chantel.

2020 sees the launch of two new Journeys End wines. The Wild Child Grenache Rose is beautiful pale pink, with hints of blossom and honey suckle on the nose backed up with Raspberry and Strawberry notes on the palate. The V5 Cabernet Franc is a force to be reckoned with a Deep ruby red colour and Eucalyptus notes. These wines will be populating lists all over the world and should be the perfect wines to see us through the last of the cold weather and welcoming in the spring sunshine!
