Rising South African Star

"The discovery of a wine is of greater moment than the discovery of a constellation. The universe is too full of stars."

Benjamin Franklin

Under the guidance of second generation owner Rollo Gabb since 2007, Journey's End has gone from strength to strength; investing heavily in the estate's equipment and vineyards. With a selection of spectacular wines, the emphasis here is on quality and the results are thrilling.

Firmly among the highest echelon of South African wine, Journey’s End has a genuine sense of place, that poetically reflects the terroir of their dynamic vineyards.

Situated on the ancient slopes of the Schapenberg, the vines benefit from the perfect balance of climate; generous sunshine, while being cooled and protected by the maritime breezes coming off False Bay.

Not only is the quality high, but they represent incomparable value-for-money. Add to that Cru’s exclusive Pre-Christmas Discount of up to 10%, available for a limited time only, and these are the best prices outside of South Africa!

This is a truly flawless set of wines for Christmas.

Clear and bright, straw with a hint of green. Oak and fruit are perfectly matched, each having its say without dominating; citrus peel and melon enriched by a subtle, savoury biscuit overlay. Journey's End The Pastor's Blend 2015

A well-judged partnership of the classic Bordeaux varieties, resulting in an elegant, harmonious wine for earlier drinking rather than long cellaring. Juicy plums and brambleberries, a savoury spice dusting from the oak, some dried herbs, giving it versatility for a range of food dishes.

Journey's End Merlot Single Vineyard 2014

ETA Early December

Blackcurrants and raspberries, a hint of violets, with the French oak well balanced to allow the fruit to shine. It shows nutmeg, vanilla, and white pepper perfume, and finishes with just enough grip to promise good cellaring potential. An elegant, polished wine, already drinking well. The grapes were hand-picked early in the morning from blocks 5 & 7. Block 7 is situated next to a Eucalyptus forest which has an subtle influence on the flavour profile of the wine.

Journey's End Cabernet Sauvignon Single Vineyard 2014

ETA Early December

A core of rich blackcurrants, black plums, with a savoury overlay, meat extract, white pepper, mixed spice. The velvety texture is a result of maturation – the wine is at the perfect drinking age – and fine-textured tannins. Complex layered and well crafted.

Journey's End Shiraz Single Vineyard 2012

Silver Medal - UK Sommeliers Awards

ETA Early December

Ruby with a garnet edge. An expressive nose, bramble berries, campfire smoke, dusty savoury spice, this is a complex layered wine, providing lots of interest. Already delicious, the bit of age has made the texture smooth and rounded, with beautifully integrated tannins, but there is still a good future ahead.

Journey's End The Griffin Syrah 2012

Gold Medal - UK Sommeliers Awards

ETA Early December

A youthful but complex concentrated fruit wine. Layers of different red and black berries with hints of smoky spice, and dark-toned fruit. As a result of the excellent vintage and careful maturation, it is succulent, silky smooth with polished tannins. Although it's currently drinking well, there is enough underlying structure for further maturation.

ETA Early December

Deep fruitcake richness on the nose, cinnamon and nutmeg spices, followed by a perfectly balanced, silky smooth, streamlined body. Misleadingly accessible, despite the current appeal, there is enough underlying power for a long future ahead.
