Among the long rolling south-facing slopes of the Stellenbosch winelands, caressed by cool coastal breezes, lies our boutique winery and vineyard. Here we produce premium, award-winning wines for the enlightened drinker.

Autumn has arrived in South Africa and our farm is happy to receive it. The cooler mornings and evenings results in enhanced flavour characteristics and preservation of fruit colour. After the hot summer, which regular readers will recall involved a fire this year, the fresh and invigorating nature of autumn is very welcome. It’s these varying climactic conditions we enjoy in the Western Cape that allows us to produce top quality single vineyard wine and also experiment with several exciting varietals grown on an array of soils.

With the holiday season upon us and flights being booked we have the ultimate in-flight treat for you! On Emirates business class, you will find our Journey’s End Haystack Chardonnay 2016 and the Journey’s End ‘Pioneer’ Chardonnay 2016. So, those of you that are hoping for a bit of Wadi Rum in the sun why not be Pioneers and drink our Chardonnay, like a boss!!

Next on the list is the highly-coveted Cathay Pacific, the gateway to the Southern Hemisphere, where we are serving up our very-special Journey’s End Shiraz 2013. The perfect accompaniment to a smooth voyage over the Pacific Ocean to the Land of Kangaroos, Didgeridoos and beyond. Its wonderful tobacco nose is met with an array of dark fruit flavours giving it a complex mouth feel. It is a New World style Shiraz that has been aged for 18 months in Burgundian and American oak barrels.

Last but by no means least the full-bodied Journey’s End Merlot 2014 incorporates everything one would look for from a premium Stellenbosch Merlot. British Airways first class fliers will have the pleasure of drinking this beauty from July onwards.

Why don’t you join our ‘Mile High Club’ and see if you can drink all 4 wines in one year? We will send you a case of our award winning ‘Cape Doctor’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 if you can prove that this has been achieved.

4 members of our team ventured to Asia for the highly anticipated PIWOSA tour. The goal: Promote awareness and showcase the quality and capability of family owned premium South African Wineries. Journey’s End, along with another 9 exciting and prestigious wineries, partook in a series of press and media events, trade dinners and blind tasting Flight Clubs in Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo respectively. As markets go, I don’t think we fully comprehended quite how much potential there really was.

We were hugely excited to see our Cape doctor Cab Sauv 2007/11 win 1st and 2nd prize in a prestigious blind tasting against highly Parker rated Ducru Beaucaillou 2011 and Sloan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, USA.

Have a great summer one and all and make sure you have ample Journey’s End wine in the fridge for those scorching July days!
