What's on at APH January 2022, 36th edition       !!! Best viewed in your browser
Dear APH researcher,

A new year! With new opportunities and new communications projects and activities within the research institute. In 2022, APH continues to draw attention to APH research among fellow researchers, external parties but also among those for whom we do research: the public!

For example, APH will introduce 'APH Stories': background stories about APH research and researchers, which will be posted online. The stories will be about why our researchers make a specific field their specialty and about the why, what and how of their public health research.

In addition, this year we want to stimulate our researchers to actively participate in the Hacking Health Amsterdam. Public health research is full of potential solutions to improve the health and happiness of the citizens of Amsterdam. In the hackathon event, it takes a 3-day team-effort in a high-pressure cooker, to turn an idea into a solution. Your gain: eternal glory and the chance to prototype your solution with expert support. More about this will follow soon.
Of course we will continue with organizing networking events and activities for APH researchers, hopefully soon in a live setting. Although our upcoming APH Spring Meeting will still be held online, it certainly will be entertaining with a theme that is very relevant these days: mental health. The save-the-date will follow next week.

Ideas or questions? Mail us!

Kind regards,

GeertjeMarije Takkenberg

APH is building a new research program on Digital Health! Smart, fair and ethical use of data and digital tools to improve both personal and societal health and wellbeing is key to futureproof healthcare and to establishing a learning healthcare system.

Within APH, many research programs already embrace aspects of digital health, but a good scientific line to embed research activities that are often cross-sectional was still lacking. This is why APH is setting-up a new overarching research program ‘Digital Health’. read more
The Amsterdam Public Health research institute (APH) organized last Autumn a networking afternoon on sustainability and health, that took place on November 9. This recent APH event formed the kick-off of APH’s active involvement in stimulating research on environmental sustainability and planetary health and/or health care at Amsterdam UMC and affiliated organizations (VU, UvA).

In light of this, APH plans to set up the ‘APH Green Research Hub’ that regularly brings together researchers that have interest in or are already performing research on environmental sustainability and planetary health and/or health care. We ask every APH researcher that has a link or interest in this topic to fill in the survey. Thank you in advance!
Accelerate the valorization & impact of your research project!

To support researchers in creating societal impact with their research projects, APH has launched an open call. 3 APH researchers/research teams get the opportunity to take the social/economic impact of their research project a step further through in-cash and in-kind funding. The in-cash support, worth €2500, can be used for organizing an event, creating promotional material or other forms that could increase the impact of their project. The in-kind support consists of personal support from IXA (knowledge transfer office), such as conducting a market exploration or advising on the most appropriate route to impact.

Deadline for application: April 1, 2022.

The Amsterdam Public Health research institute organizes onboarding meetings for new APH researchers every three months. The main goal of the onboarding meeting is getting to know the research institute and fellow APH researchers better.

We will inform you about APH and its assets and explain how you can contribute and benefit from your affiliation to APH. It is an entertaining and diverse afternoon and a great opportunity to meet fellow APH researchers.

Next meeting: February 8, 2022  |  15:00-16:30 (online)

You can register for one of our onboarding meetings via this registration form.
