Call PhD scholarships 2023
|
|
|
In 2023, six Amsterdam UMC PhD Scholarships will be awarded to excellent students in Medicine, Medical Informatics, Biomedical Sciences or Social Sciences.
The Amsterdam PhD scholarships are financed from core government funding. The amount of the scholarship (216k) covers most of the costs of a four-year appointment as Research Trainee (Onderzoeker in Opleiding) at Amsterdam UMC. Interested? Many elderly people are at risk of malnutrition. APH researcher Emiel Hoogendijk and colleagues published an article in The Lancet to address urgency. Malnutrition occurs not only in people living at home, but even more often in care facilities and hospitals. Read more

Maternal health outcomes continue to worsen in the United States. APH researcher Ank de Jonge explains: “The differences are rather stark. The U.S. model relies much more on medical interventions than the model in the UK and the Netherlands.” Read more

Workshop, February 21: APH Digital Health topic session - Barriers and solutions to bring AI into health practice. Amsterdam UMC Doctoral School new central registration system
As of end of January 2023, the Doctoral School central registration system for Amsterdam UMC PhD students has been put into use. With this central registration the Doctoral School can work in a more digitalized way, and aims to serve the PhD candidates and their PhD team even better.
By means of an online web form, new PhD candidates register at the Amsterdam UMC
Doctoral School, the research institutes ánd PhD association ASAP at the start of their PhD trajectory. The PhD candidates who are already ina PhD trajectory have already been loaded in the central system, they do not have to take any action. Read more

Promoting ongoing improvement in research quality is one of the primary goals of APH.
Opening up research practices in ongoing research projects to colleagues within the research institute to foster a research culture of transparency, trust, mutual support, and continuous improvement. A tool developed by the APH Scientific Quality Committee (SQC), to foster the quality of APH research projects, is the Research Quality (RQ) visit. Read more

VU Open Access publishing
As of January 1st, 2023, the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam made Open Access publishing the norm. This has been decided by the Executive Board. The new policy means that scientific publications by VU-authors must be made Open Access under an open license. Hereby, the VU takes an important step towards accessible and transparent science for all. Read more

The Amsterdam Public Health research institute organizes onboarding meetings for new APH researchers every three months. The main goal of the onboarding meeting is getting to know the research institute and fellow APH researchers better.
We will inform you about APH and its assets and explain how you can contribute and benefit from your affiliation to APH. It is a diverse afternoon and a great opportunity to meet fellow APH researchers.
