A term of giving
This term is proving to be another exciting term. We have been working hard away to provide a fresh start as we dig in to the new year. With upcoming athletic competitions, the kids are in full gear of training for running races and volleyball competitions. AKW has provided socks and shoes for all of the students to fit them for the win. Base Titanium continues their support by providing eight bags of sorghum to support healthy eating for their morning porridge. AKW provided 3 new uniform sets and mending of six uniforms. We also continue to work to close the gap in science, mathematics, literacy and writing by supplementing enriched instructional and learning tools specific to student needs. Deaf Child Worldwide visited the school this past month and provided 50 basic KSL books for fundamental learning and the kids will take one home to their families to further support home communication.

Setting a Need and Pace . . .
Nassir continues to see the great need for change. He pushes for change whenever possible. He recently attended a meeting in the county where he discussed our children’s needs so that they may be added to the 2016 - 2017 budget whenever money may arise. After attending another meeting with the Kwale Ministry of Culture and Gender Works, Nassir was provided with a water tank that is currently being placed within our new site at Kidimu. Through the efforts of Nassir, the T4T, teaching for teachers, group joined us at Kichamkamkwaju to observe lessons and provide collaborative feedback to support the growth of teaching strategies. During this time, Anna was also able to sit and discuss our current instructional needs within the school. Nassir and Anna will continue be in contact to seek support and improve our holistic approach to teaching our deaf and hard of hearing learners.
