It is unlikely that anyone reading this has not heard of the moving speech by Khizr Khan at the Democratic National Convention during which this Gold Star father brought out his pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution. If you want a personal copy of the Constitution – you have several options. You may go to the White House's website for the text and discussion, or you may go to the ACLU website and obtain a pocket version for free until Election Day. Hearing the speech of Mr. Khan and subsequent interviews of him and Mrs. Khan made me proud to be an immigration attorney. Their faith in this country and their commitment to our principals show why Immigration has made us a strong and vibrant country.

Also, The institute on Taxation and Economic Policy shows that the State and Local Tax Contributions of Undocumented Immigrants is currently at $11.64 billion, which would increase by $2.1 billion under comprehensive immigration reform. For the state of Florida, undocumented immigrants currently pay $588,006,000 in state and local taxes. That amount would increase by $58,808,000 if we passed comprehensive immigration reform. Given that the sales tax is only a fraction of the actual sales figures, the positive impact on our business revenue would be a significant boost to our economy.
