In our last FCOLC newsletter we shared the profile of one of the several dedicated women who work with our sea turtle nurseries in Nicaragua.  Since we are now fully in nesting season, we thought we would share another profile with you.
Candida is 28 years old and lives in Las Penitas, Nicaragua, the first site for the Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center’s Sea Turtle & Women Empowerment Program. She has been working with the Sea Turtle Program for two years and Candida cares for the hatchery during the day and at night walks the beach to find sea turtles she can flipper tag.

She relocates the eggs to their place in the nursery, assists with sea turtle releases, and measures the adult turtles.  She is instrumental in recording the conditions for the nests and hatchlings as our team on the ground develops an optimal setting that will mitigate the loss of sea turtles eggs.
Plus when you adopt, we will send you a Certificate of Adoption, share photos of the actual nest, and if the timing is right, you will receive a video of the baby hatchlings and their release back to the sea!

You can also choose to support the program by purchasing one of our Turtl-ey Awesome Youth T-shirts. Or, have a little one in your life, pre-order our Turtl-ey Awesome onesies!! Just SHOP HERE!
