Chaplains from around the world attend NACC in Anaheim, CA.
The NACC was the big event for July and it was a great event. The Commissioners conduct their annual business meeting during the convention. We had a great meeting and set direction for the coming year.
Our Commissioners meet for their annual meeting.
We also had an open meeting for all Chaplains and all interested parties. We had one of the largest attendances I can remember. It was a good cross section of prison, hospice, hospital, civil air patrol, cooperate, fire and police department, active, reserve and retired chaplains, their families and well wishers.
Prison Chaplain Tim Wood with Commissioner Russ Galbreath.
After comments and updates from the President of the Commission, Tom Ellsworth, Dr. Paul Boatman spoke on Compassion Fatigue.
Dan Moll, one of our Commissioners had suggested we have a no-host fellowship dinner. There were 28 in attendance. It was a great event and one we will continue at future NACC meetings.
We set up our full display provided by Group Imaging, for the first time utilizing a double booth space. The display looked great and drew a lot of attention. It was a great place to reconnect, fellowship and answer questions. The gatherings spilled out into the aisle numerous times.
The NACC was a great gathering and a tremendous encouragement to our Chaplains. We also were able to promote the work of our ministry very effectively.
While we were in the area we took the opportunity to visit University Christian Church and Discovery Church in Simi Valley with one of our Chaplains Rick Robledo, his wife Leanne, sons, Jarad, Nathan and Issac. (They have since added another son to their family, congratulations!) We also had breakfast with an old friend, retired Navy Senior Chief Boiler Technician and long time Christian Church member Robert Lowe.
A special thanks to all the Commissioners for all their work throughout the year. We endorsed 13 Chaplains during our FY15 year. The number of Chaplains and Chaplain Candidates is now at 183. Thanks to all the Chaplains who were able to attend and helped man the booth. We are excited about what our FY16 will bring.
