of Juliet. Volume 2 Part 1

Hello! Sam here to tell you about our latest issue of of Juliet. To quote Josh's curtain notes, "Welcome to the opposite of everything we have done before." In volume 1 of our little magazine, we explored the inner workings at Juliet restaurant. Over the course of three issues, we told you the stories we've been long waiting to share since we opened, since our staff came on board, and really since forever.

But for Issue 2, we've flipped the script, left the restaurant, and started to explore. All the art, from cover to cover comes from Sara Mikula, a friend of Juliet.

For me, as a contributor and now the Editor of Special Features and Projects on the magazine, I left Juliet, got on a plane, and headed to Rome for some exploration as we prepared for this issue.

Planning for volume 2, began before the first of Juliet volume 1 issue 1 even went to print. I started planning my trip to Rome in January of 2018, when Josh announced that in 2019 our January menu would be themed around Rome.
Flash forward to July of 2018, and I packed a backpack and headed to Rome to discover what it had to offer me.

There I discovered a perfect place. A city that's beauty lives in the walls. Where simple flavors are elevated with ease. Where there is honor to tradition in the ruins and the ancient dishes that are the mainstays of trattoria menus. You can read my feature on Rome online here.

Music For You

The arts have planned a formative role in my life as I participated in music lessons and community theater throughout my childhood and later as I went to school to pursue writing. Therefore, a true pleasure of working at Juliet has always been our commitment to the arts whether it be working on of Juliet, collaborating with Promenade Opera, or hosting a Music on the Menu with Cornerscape Music

My favorite Juliet memory was our Music on the Menu with Aurora Birch last summer. I'm happy to be bringing back the series to bring some music to Juliet on a summer afternoon. This Sunday, Hayley Sabella and Alisa Amador will join us at Juliet for an afternoon of music. Tickets are $20 and will include light snacks. Kids under 12 are free.

I hope to see you all there.

Thank you for taking the time to read my newsletter. It's always a pleasure to pop into inboxes when we have an extra week of the month where I get to write a newsletter just from me to you.

I hope to see you at Juliet and maybe even Peregrine, sometime soon. Until then, here's our current Beach Rose playlist gracing the speakers at Juliet. See you soon.
