Now Open: Rea Charitable Trust Print Screen Studio

Here for a limited time the Downtown Library now has a fully functioning screen printing studio that is open to the public. If you like hands on activities this is the place for you. Library staff and volunteers will teach you everything you need to know. Bring a solid color t-shirt or pillow case to the library and go home with your own piece of custom art.

The screen print studio is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6:30. Don’t wait to make plans to visit - the screen print studio will close after spring break on March 18.


$200 Design Contest

The library is running a design contest in conjunction with the screen print studio. Submissions are due by Friday February 24th at noon. For tips, tricks, and rules contact Annie Tillmann at or (432)742-7437.

Entry is free - First prize is $200, two runners up will earn $100 each.

Next Week: National Storytellers Visit Midland

The library has partnered with the Hispanic Cultural Center of Midland and the Midland Storytelling Festival to bring two nationally touring storytellers to Midland for the Estamos Aqui Hispanic Storytelling Festival. The tellers will be visiting local schools, and will each give free public performances at the Hispanic Cultural Center of Midland.

Carolina Quiroga-Stultz will present, “Mom, Dad, tell me a story: Mama, Papa, cuenta me un cunento!” on Thursday Feb 23 at 6:30pm.

Jasmin Cardenas will tell a combination of ancient legends, myths, folktales and personal tales from North, Central and South America on Friday Feb 24 at 7:00pm.

The Hispanic Cultural Center of Midland is located at 1311 E Wadley Ave in Hogan Park behind the Sibley Nature Center, and entry is free.

Coming Soon: Dr. Seuss’s 113th Birthday

Mark your calendar for March 4th from 12pm to 2pm at the Downtown Library. The Youth Service’s staff will have family friendly games, crafts, and a storytime to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s 113th birthday. If you’re a diehard Seuss fan, then you won’t want to miss a special appearance by Thing 1 and Thing 2.
