Happy Holidays!

Wow! November was busy, with our Annual Volunteer Fair, #GivingTuesdayCA, and preparing for the Sidekicks Mentoring Christmas Party it seemed like our office was go, go, go! As we move through December, much like you, we are looking forward to spending time with our families and friends.

This month, we are very excited about the International Volunteer Day (as well as the day Santa arrives). International Volunteer Day is a global celebration of volunteers and is internationally observed on December 5th thanks to a designation by the United Nations that began in 1985. It is our chance to shine a light on the impact of volunteer efforts at local, national, and international levels. Continue reading this month's newsletter to learn more!

International Volunteer Day
December 5, 2016

International Volunteer Day is a chance for individual volunteers, communities, and organizations to promote and celebrate volunteer contributions.
We would like to say "Thank You" to all the wonderful volunteers that contribute to making St. Albert the great community that it is, and for all their contributions locally, nationally, and internationally.

Sidekicks Christmas Party

On Sunday, December 4th Sidekicks hosted their Annual Christmas Party at the Next Christian Community Church. Our families enjoyed an afternoon of games, movies, and so much more. Lee Conrad graciously drew over 25 caricature family portraits and Brett and Donna catered an amazing meal for all. The day would not have been complete without a special visit from the guest of honour, Santa Claus! He brought gifts for every Sidekick!

Sidekicks is still accepting hamper donations. Contact Cyndi for more information on how you can give to a Sidekick family.

Mental Health First Aid

As mental health and mental wellness have been in the forefront of recent news, our staff  completed their Mental Health First Aid Training thanks to the Community and Social Development Department of the City of St. Albert. Read about the experience here
