CEO Corner

Engagement with the state has continued since our recap last month, including attending the Colorado Association of Destination Marketing Organizations (CADMO) where DMO CEO’s convene to share challenges and accomplishments from within our regions.  We also discussed the state tourism strategy and the new Colorado Tourism Roadmap Initiative where the state is seeking your input as they develop a long term vision.  VEP and EALA attended two of the regional input sessions in Denver and Greeley, where break-out groups shared opportunities and challenges that the state needs to consider to remain competitive in the constantly shifting tourism industry.  Slides from the regional input sessions are here.  Be sure to plan ahead for the Colorado Governor’s Conference, September 14 – 16 in Breckenridge, CO where the final report will be presented with recommendations on how to maximize implementation and track performance.

VEP is once again popping up our booth every Thursday at the Farmers Market to answer questions and welcome your feedback, so don’t be shy, come visit us!  We are also using this opportunity to showcase Estes artisans who create made in Estes product.  This is a free opportunity (reservations available) where they can sell their product and network with locals and guests.

As we strive to remain competitive in the industry and current with new technology platforms, VEP has three new product offerings you can partner with us on:  Virtual Tours (limited openings available), CrowdRiff social media aggregator, and eNewsletter ad content.  Check out the Services Guide for a comprehensive list of opportunities and contact Abi if interested.

Looking for Hwy 34 information, talking points for your guests, and CDOT updates?  Check out our Hwy 34 page on our website and contact us with any questions.  VEP is continually updating this page to provide you the latest details.

Thank you,
Elizabeth

April Lodging Taxes
Year-to-date through April, we’ve experienced a 19.25% increase compared to the same four-month period in 2015. However, December and January 2016 include substantial late payments from 2015.  Adjusting for this, revenues recalculate to a 9.63% increase compared to 2015.
2017 Estes Park Visitor Guide
It’s time to consider reaching your 2017 customers! As is customary at this time of year, ad sales in the annual Official Estes Park Visitor Guide are set to begin next week. Did you know that over 50% of leisure travelers use print resources to assist with their travel decisions and 67% of respondents said destination guide advertisements help them plan their trips!*  The 2017 Guide will have new elements including the town’s 100th Anniversary. Information about the Guide is detailed in the online Visit Estes Park Services Guide.  Abi Huebner is eager to meet with you so give her a call at 970-586-0500 or email her at ahuebner@visitestespark.com to let her know you’re interested.  The deadline is only 10 weeks away.

Ride the Rockies Survey
On June 16, Ride the Rockies traveled over Trail Ridge Road through Rocky Mountain National Park and into Estes Park. It was a fun day for everyone, from the Farmers Market to the Bond Park festivities through the evening. Thank you to everyone who helped support the cyclists and crews during this stage of the tour. Ride the Rockies has created a survey to judge the success of the event. Please take the survey and share your feedback.
