CEO Corner

Thank you to everyone who was involved with Winter Trails and Winter Festival - what a successful weekend!  Visit Estes Park won 3rd place on Saturday for best chili, thanks to our awesome team member Jean McGuire!  I appreciate our staff representing VEP at our table as well.  Winter Trails was a big success in large part due to EALA sponsoring the event, and thank you to Belle Morris and her crew with the Estes Park Running Club volunteering at the registration table.

We welcome two new board members to the Visit Estes Park Board:  Charley Dickey with Rustic Mountain Charm and David Ciani with Grand Heritage.  We commend the appointments made by the Town and Larimer County, and appreciate everyone who applied.  Please stay involved!

We are hearing positive reports from businesses despite Highway 34 being closed.  If this is not the case for you, please contact us so we can provide you assistance via our marketing opportunities - most of which are FREE!  Keep an eye out for our Partner Promotions Newsletter as well, which shares many ways to engage with us, offering you increased marketing visibility.

Year to date, lodging taxes are up 8.29%. When adjusted for late and missing payments, the increase is estimated at 7.6%.

Visitor Gude New Edition Off Press

The 2017 edition of the Official Visitor Guide is hot off the press! Go check your mailbox as, for the first time ever, VEP has mailed a copy directly to every resident of the Estes Valley!  A focus of the guide is celebrating our locals, so take a look and get to know your community a little better.   We partnered with local photographers Richard Hahn, Erik Stensland and James Frank. Residents share why Estes Park is so special to them. Area artists describe what inspires them creatively. And businesses throughout the area showcase what they have to offer for both guests and residents. The magazine includes expanded hiking pages, answers to frequently asked questions, and sticky note tabs that you can use to interact with the guide while planning your next adventure. NoCo Brochure Rack (formerly Eve’s) will continue stocking the Official Visitor Guide.  If you desire a floor or counter magazine rack for your business, we are happy to provide one for you and we will help keep it stocked. Please contact Abi Huebner at ahuebner@visitestespark.com or (970) 586-0500 for more information.

Estes Park in the Big City

As part of our Winter Campaign, Visit Estes Park advertised via a downtown Denver digital billboard in the heart of the Theater District. You'll notice the taglines were specifically branded for the area: "Our Stage is Kind of a Big Deal Too" and "Scenery That Deserves a Standing Ovation." We heard from many of you who enjoyed seeing your hometown celebrated with bright lights in the big city!

The Ultimate Guide to Brand Messaging

February 22, 2017. 9:30a.m. Inkwell & Brew.

Once you’ve identified your brand – your Unique Selling Proposition – the next step is developing the “messaging” or how to portray your brand to the world. In this fast-paced workshop you’ll learn:

- How to “own” your brand in short order (what used to take years can now be done in months)
- What to say and how to say it (using several real-life examples) so it sticks
- The importance of the written and spoken word in branding (your brand is more than graphic design)
- Finding expertise in brand messaging AND graphic design

We’ll also cover the topic of “bridge brands.” What do you say when you may not yet “own” your brand, but are developing it? How do you “bridge” that gap. RSVP.

Do you offer Birding Tours?

Visit Estes Park is taking an inventory of all businesses who offer birding tours. Please contact Abi if you do! AHuebner@VisitEstesPark.com

Rails in the Rockies

February 18 & 19, 2017
The Pavilion Estes Park, CO

Clanging bells, tooting whistles, and blaring horns will fill the Estes Park Events Complex as trains from the steam age to the present time roar along tracks of model railroad layouts at the annual "Rails in the Rockies" exhibit.

Organized by the Estes Valley Model Railroaders, these working exhibits include models of trains from many regions of the United States as well as selected models of British railroads, all of which have been crafted in detail by dedicated model railroaders from all over Colorado. Children will enjoy the "Kids Layout" where they can actually operate model trains themselves.
