Polaris 2016!

Thanks to YOU, our 40th Anniversary and Polaris Awards Gala exceeded our expectations! We are very grateful.

As we begin the work that will define our direction for the next 40 years, YOU give us hope and inspire us to create a just and caring community that works for all of us. We hope you were inspired by our three deserving Polaris Award winners, Worth Loomis, Julie Daly Meehan, and Tracey Kittoe, who share a common passion for this region, a belief in its future, and in the three pillars - Community, Leadership, Connections - that are the foundation of the important work we do.

Interested in Leading Off Campus?

Are you a college student leader looking to take your leadership to the next level? Or do you know a student who fits this description?

Leading Off Campus provides college students with an opportunity to engage with diverse student leaders from other area colleges and universities and build additional credentials beyond their classroom experiences. It helps introduce them to the many ways leadership takes shape outside their academic world, and teaches them as much about the community as it does about themselves.

Tracey Kittoe, a senior at Central Connecticut State University, received a Polaris award this week as a Leader of the Future participated in the 2016 class.
“Leading Off Campus was an opportunity of a lifetime. This is an experience that I will never forget because it helped me to step out of my comfort zone. I believe I became a better leader and overall good person because I got the chance to connect with people from all different backgrounds.”

Help empower a college student you know to continue their leadership journey!  We are now accepting applications for the 2017 class of Leading Off Campus which will begin on February 3, 2017.

Dr. William Clark, who has joined the board at Connecticut Fair Housing Center.
Angela Frame, Erik Crespo, and Mike Fritz, who have joined committees at Creative Living Community of Connecticut.

Our nonprofit partners are seeking new board members. If you or someone you know is interested in serving on a nonprofit board, the first step is to attend an Orientation workshop. There is no cost to individuals to participate in the Orientation Workshop, but registration is necessary.

The next Orientation Workshop is on December 7, 5:15 - 7:30 p.m.

After this training, participants can purchase an "Express Pass" for $20 which entitles them to participate in an unlimited number of Express Matches where they meet nonprofit organizations seeking new board members and have a chance to win a gift card to a Hartford treasure!

The next Express Match is November 29, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
