Interested in Leading Off Campus?

Are you a college student leader looking to take your leadership to the next level? Or do you know a student who fits this description?

Leading Off Campus provides traditional and non-traditional age college students with an opportunity to engage with diverse student leaders from other area colleges and universities and build additional credentials beyond their classroom experiences. It helps introduce them to the many ways leadership takes shape outside their academic world, and teaches them as much about the community as it does about themselves.

Carroll Nelson, a senior at Goodwin College participated in the 2016 class.
“The program is a gift. It provides introductions to community leaders, teaches project and program management, invites inclusion and diversity and appreciates and encourages creativity. It reminded me to learn about and to love Hartford as a great city.”

Help empower a college student you know to continue their leadership journey!  We are now accepting applications for the 2017 class of Leading Off Campus which will begin on February 3, 2017.

The next Orientation Workshop is on December 7, 5:15 - 7:30 p.m.

After this training, participants can purchase an "Express Pass" for $20 which entitles them to participate in an unlimited number of Express Matches where they meet nonprofit organizations seeking new board members and have a chance to win a gift card to a Hartford treasure!

The next Express Match is December 13, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Hartford Corridor of Hope Planting Day Nov 12

Under the direction of LGH associate and horticultural expert Jack Hale, volunteers from Pratt & Whitney weeded an overgrown area along Capitol Avenue and planted more than 1,800 daffodil bulbs to beautify an area known as the "Corridor of Hope." The Corridor of Hope is a rundown stretch of Capitol Avenue that was an eyesore to commuters and a dirty, frightening path for students walking to Hartford high school.

The Leadership Challenge®

Sixteen diverse, mid to senior-level leaders have just completed The Leadership Challenge® - a two-day, intensive and interactive workshop facilitated by the LGH training team of Ted Carroll, Andre Santiago, Julie Connolly, Doe Hentschel, and Karen Senteio. The participants explored the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® through experiential activities, exercises, and group work. Individual coaching sessions following the seminar will assist participants in developing personalized approaches to address their own leadership challenges.
