This will be the final newsletter of 2020. May each of you have a wonderful and safe holiday season. Like much of the previous year, your holidays may look a little different than usual. However you spend them, we pray you'll experience the presence of God and His blessings in your life. Being alone and away from home is difficult, especially at Christmas. And for those who are incarcerated, this time of year can be especially lonely as many are estranged from their loved ones and may not receive many visits or correspondence. That’s why the Columbia church sends Christmas cards to people in prisons across the country every December.

New Scholarship at Union College Covers Tuition for Families Making $60,000 or Less

Union College has launched the new Bridge to Union Scholarship—a plan that will cover the tuition costs for students from most families with an income of $60,000 or less.

Don't Miss the Once-Every-800-Years 'Christmas Star' on December 21

On December 21, the orbits of Jupiter and Saturn will align to within a tenth of a degree, forming an especially bright spectacle known commonly as a "Christmas Star." The two planets haven't aligned this closely in the sky for nearly 400 years, and it's been closer to 800 years since it occurred at night. If the sky is clear, people in North America should be able to view the "Christmas Star" toward the southwest horizon for at least an hour after sunset before it dips below the horizon.

Deadline to Turn in 2020 Food Labels is December 28

If you have cans of Loma Linda or Worthington food products, don't forget to turn in your labels. Each one is worth 25 cents! Check with your local church for more information on worthy projects supported through the food label program. For churches partnering with the conference, our combined efforts go toward meeting the needs of refugees living in Iowa and Missouri. A participation form may be downloaded below. Totals must be received by Dec. 28 to be included in this year's count.
