Hello <<First Name>>, here we are in October already. Where has the year gone.

our BLOG has great photos of the AGM held recently.
  • We welcome all the new members of our Management Committee and thank them for volunteering to help run our fabulous organisation.
  • We also farewell all the retiring committee members and hope they enjoy their well earned rest.
  • Congratulations to Cathie Gamble this years recipient of  Lifetime Member
Our new Management Structure means a more streamlined, organised Association Committee. However we still need a President and a Vice-President. I know Gwen and Lesley are a hard act to follow, but don't let that stop you  <<First Name>> (and a friend) from volunteering to steer the Association into the future.
  • What does your small group get up to? Do you work on the same projects or set each other challenges? I'd love to hear all about it. Send me some stories and pictures of your small group.
  • Carla Morris reminded me of the 5000 poppies project recently. Check out how you can help with this fantastic initiative. Liz Humphreys is involved in a similar project that needs your poppies. Lets get making!!
  • Fancy a nice spring picnic? Why not try the Jazz Picnic at Old Blythewood, Saturday 21st October.
  • How does someone go from being a Professional Baseball player to publishing a Quilting magazine? Read the story of the founding of Quiltfolk magazine from whileshenaps.com
  • Australian quilt designers are blitzing the world at the moment. Angie Wilson has a new book out all about fussy cutting called Fussy Cutters Club: a boot camp for mastering fabric play. What's not to love about fussy cutting!
  • If you are into all things Halloween then you'll really like this great no sew tutorial I came upon rambling the bloggosphere. Mini Halloween Pillows!
COMMUNITY QUILTS with Gail
  • Next Quilting Bee is Sunday October 22 at Alexander Park Craft House, Clyde Street, Menora ( near Alexander Park Tennis Club).
The day runs from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  We are hoping to sew the Block of the Month squares together, as well as, complete some of the stack of UFOs and donated quilt tops we have in stock.  Liz will be away so Gwen will be running the bee.  Morning tea provided, please bring lunch and a mug. Look forward to seeing you there. First timers most welcome.

Reminder:  Please return completed Block of the Month samples so they can be included in quilts stitched at the Bee.

On the Lookout for a volunteer to manage a north of the river group run along similar lines to the one started recently by Lynette Ferguson in Melville.  For further information please see Lynette or me at Sewing Day/Evening.
