WAQA's AGM is coming up WEDNESDAY 4TH OCTOBER at Stirling Adriatic Centre, starting at 7.30

At the AGM our management committee changes, reports are made on all Association activities and we find out the financial situation. Our guest speaker is Claire Turpin, a fabulous designer and appliquer.

Your Association is in dire straights at the moment. We do not have any nominations for President or Vice-President at the time of writing this newsletter. Have you thought of putting your hand up? If so contact Gwen or Lesley to discuss the job requirements. With the great restructuring of the committee these two jobs are much more manageable. WAQA is also in need of a Communications Leader, an Education Leader, and a QQ Editorial team. Our Organisation can only continue to succeed if more members are willing to volunteer for vacant positions.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Stirling Adriatic Centre has offered to cook a sausage sizzle for sewing day participants in NOVEMBER. A list will be available for you to put your name down if you are interested in this scrumptious idea. Look for the list at sewing day.

WAQA received a lovely handwritten note in the mail recently from Lola Bolton. It was addressed to the newsletter Editor so I wanted everyone to share it:

"Dear Ladies,

The WAQA Bustrip to Dunsborough,Saturday 26th August

I'd like to thank Gwen Parry and Lesley Warren for an absolutely lovely day on our bus trip to Dunsborough and all parts in between.

Firstly the weather was a beautifully fine day and on the trip down the paddocks were gorgeous greens with cattle dotted here and there, so lovely to be driven by our competent and very patient driver, Colin, and be able to enjoy the journey without all the driving hassles.

Our first pit stop at Settlers Roadhouse was made fun, when on boarding the bus, there was a surprise on each seat - a finger crocheting kit, with instructions of "how to" included. After some false starts by some (me included!), a lot of ladies practically finished the exercise on our way home when it got too dark to see!!

I have to say our next stop at Bunbury Craft Collections was an absolute quilters delight and the ladies were at the door to greet us and were so efficient and helpful to those who needed advice etc, and they had a beautiful morning tea laid out for us, then it was into the shop to "shop til you dropped" - or had time for - we only had an hour! What a wonderful experience just to look around their shop and endevour to make decisions on what to buy and match this with that! I think we would have loved to have had more time there - it calls for another visit in the future!

We then made our way to Dunsborough to visit with "the material girls" who made us feel so welcome and had a delightful lunch ready for us. They also had a mini shop of fat quarter bundles for sale, so more shopping to feed a quilters soul! After lunch "the material girls" had a wonderful show and tell for us which was awe inspiring. Such clever ladies. Gwen and Lesley also had examples of the recent tentmakers visit to show which was exquisite work to view.

Fare-welling the "material girls" we made our way back to Busselton to visit Cotton Rose, in Vasse, where, because of small size of shop, we halved our numbers and went in half at a time. Another delight for a quilters heart - we must have been on overload by now you would think with all the delights we had had during the day. Our visit was short and soon on our way home.

We stopped at Settler's Roadhouse again for last pit stop, and lo and behold, Lesley and Gwen produced a "happy hour" of sherry, cool drink and water, plus some biscuits and cake! What a lovely end to a lovely day!!

Thank you again Lesley and Gwen (and whatever helpers you had behind the scenes), it was a fabulous day out."
