Have you had enough snow yet? At least these snows are great for skiing and filling the snow pack - and nicer temperatures are on the way! Aside from the weather, there's a lot going on in the Village this month, including ongoing updates to the City's Master Plan - read more below about how you can get involved. We also have updates on CHV's 75th Anniversary, John Meade Park, National Geographic at the Newman Center, and a save-the-date for the 10th Annual Barn Party!

Join the Citizen's Advisory Taskforce

Cherry Hills Village is updating the city's Master Plan for the first time in 10 years and applications are open until Friday, March 6 for the Citizen's Advisory Taskforce.

The prior Master Plan emphasized the importance of increasing and enhancing open space in the Village. CHLP believes this should also be a primary goal in the new Master Plan in order to preserve and enhance the beauty and livability of Cherry Hills. We hope you consider joining the Taskforce, but even if you don't, let your voice be heard in support of opens paces by attending Master Plan community events! The 75th Anniversary Committee is looking for personal stories about Cherry Hills Village and to recognize residents’ significant contributions to the City. If you would like to share a personal story about the Village or would like to recognize a significant contribution, please email Jessica Sager at These stories will be included in future issues of the Village Crier, added to the 75th Anniversary page and posted on the City’s Facebook page. The Committee is also seeking historic photos of the Village as part of a “then” and “now” exhibit. If you have photos you would like to submit for consideration, please email them to or you can drop them off at City Hall (office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00-4:30 p.m.).

Cool Things To Calendar

National Geographic is coming to the Newman Center

The Newman Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver will host two performances by National Geographic - check out the details and get your tickets by clicking the dates below:

March 23: Nat Geo Live: Extreme Cave Diving
Kenny Broad, National Geographic's Explorer of the Year for 2011, is also an accomplished cave diver. He pursues this extreme avocation not for sport but to gain valuable insights. Doubling as a recognized, and quite funny, environmental anthropologist, Broad uses his research to solve problems of climate change and freshwater resource management. Join him for a fantastic voyage into the beautiful but dangerous "blue holes" of the Bahamas-a potential treasure trove of scientific knowledge, captured in incredible images and video.
April 27: Nat Geo Live: Pink Boots and a Machete With Primatologist Mireya Mayor
Host of Nat Geo WILD series Wild Nights with Mireya Mayor, Mayor has been hailed as a "female Indiana Jones," and an inspiration to young women interested in science and exploration. She'll share stories, images, and film clips of her adventures, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the hardships and danger of life in the field, along with the moments of discovery that make it all worthwhile.

Save the Date: 10th Annual Barn Party and Trail Walk

Planning has begun for the 10th Annual Barn Party and Trail Walk to be held the weekend of September 19-20! Save the dates have been mailed and invites will follow later this year.
