Whinfield Coke Ovens

In January, Tyne & Wear Building Preservation Trust (TWBPT) secured £15,000 match funding from Historic England to enable scrub clearance work to be undertaken at Whinfield Coke Ovens.

This will allow for building restoration work in the coming months. TWBPT are also working with Groundwork's Youth Team and Gateshead College on engaging young people in the restoration of the Coke Ovens and surrounding area.
