Askonefamily Helpline for People Parenting Alone, Sharing Parenting and Separating

The national askonefamily helpline provides listening support to people who are parenting alone, co-parenting or separating and are finding themselves in distress during COVID-19. It also offers information on social welfare, finances, family law, housing, education, childcare, parenting, and mediation.

The helpline is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 1pm and 2pm- 3.30pm and can be accessed on 1890 662 212 or 01 662 9212  or by email at info@onefamily.ie and also through Direct Mail (DM) on Facebook.

Community Support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People

Deaf COVID Road Runners are a group of deaf volunteers offering support to any deaf older or isolated people affected by COVID-19. This is a nationwide service.

Banks Supporting Citizens Cocooning

Banking and Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI) has announced that all five retail banks now have dedicated free phonelines to assist cocooning customers during the COVID-19 crisis.

An information guide has also been launched today which provides practical advice for cocooning customers on the various ways in which they can manage their day-to-day banking and finances in a safe way while they stay at home.

The guide also outlines a number of tips around how customers can keep their money safe.

Workplace/Retail Protection and Improvement Guides

The National Standards Authority of Ireland has developed a new Workplace Protection and Improvement Guide aimed at helping companies to manage their response to COVID-19 correctly and help workers in essential services.

The purpose of the guide is to provide practical advice in the following areas:

  • defending against the spread of COVID-19
  • management and reduction of on-site cases
  • recovery of processes and business functions

This new guide is now available in addition to the Retail Protection and Improvement Guide published by the NSAI earlier this month.

Expansion of Business Supports for Enterprises

A major expansion of supports for all businesses impacted by COVID-19 has been announced by Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys TD.
The package is worth €1bn in liquidity measures, including a new €180m Sustaining Enterprise Fund from Enterprise Ireland.

NEPS Advice & Resources
Keeping Children and Young People Well During COVID-19

The National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) have developed advice and some resources for young people to manage and stay well when schools are closed during COVID-19.

NEPS psychologists have developed guidance for parents supporting children to create new routines at home.
Having a Plan for the Day is key for children/young people to manage and stay well at this time.

NEPS psychologists have also developed advice for parents and schools on talking to children and young people about COVID-19 here.

Minding our Mental Health During COVID-19
Mental Health Ireland has shared five simple actions we can all take to protect our mental health and maintain positive wellbeing during uncertain and challenging times. Check out more here.


Free Online Stress Control Sessions

As the and HSE cannot deliver the Stress Control classes in the community just now, 6 sessions will be live-streamed by Dr Jim White, consultant clinical psychologist.
These free-of-charge sessions are starting on Monday 13th April and can be watched either in the afternoon or evening.

Mindfulness Campaign and Free Online Events

To help those struggling during the COVID-19 alert, the Migraine Association of Ireland have put together a mindfulness campaign and are hosting free online events hoping reach out to anyone.

The events are held each Monday and Thursday over a four- week period and include stress and anxiety workshops, meditation, yoga and more.
