Community Enhancement Programme 2019

Galway City Council through the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) invites applications for funding from interested Community Groups / Organisations with the Galway City administrative area under the Community Enhancement Programme (CEP) for 2019.
Under the programme, grants will be provided towards capital projects to enhance facilities in disadvantaged areas.

Applications should relate to one or more key priority areas identified in the Galway City Local Economic & Community Plan 2015 – 2021 (see below) which can be viewed on-line here

The programme can fund or partially fund larger scale projects to address disadvantage. Some funding is ring-fenced to provide small capital grants of €1,000 or less. This is aimed at assisting grassroots community projects to get off the ground.

The funding covers capital projects only and should demonstrate added value. The following provides a non-exhaustive list of capital projects that could receive funding under the programme:
  • Development/renovation of community centres
  • Once off maintenance of premises. This does not include regular routine maintenance
  • Community amenities
  • Development of youth clubs or facilities
  • Development of sports/recreation facilities
  • Improvements to town parks and common areas and spaces
  • Public realm improvements
  • Streetscaping
  • Development of play/recreation spaces
  • Energy efficiency type projects
  • Purchase of equipment
Target groups - This funding is targeted towards enhancing community facilities for individuals and communities that are impacted by disadvantage as identified in the LECP.

Application Forms and Guidelines are available from the Community & Culture Department, Galway City Council, City Hall or by phone to 091 536406 / 091 536808 and also available to download from www.galwaycity.ie.
