Women’s Aid, the national organisation supporting victims of domestic violence have created a poster outlining all of the support points for anyone who may be in unsafe and abusive homes.  Included there is a website for details on your local services as well as the Male Advice Line. The poster can also be downloaded here.
 App for Domestic Abuse Victims
Among the Support Services identified by An Garda Síochána there is Bright Sky Ireland, a free app available on Google Play and Apple App Store.
The app connects victims of domestic and sexual abuse to advice and support services across the country. It enables users to locate their nearest support centre by searching their area and provides information about different forms of abuse such as domestic abuse, sexual violence and harassment. It also provides a journal to record incidents of abuse by text, video, voice recording or photography.
Read the An Garda Síochána Domestic Abuse Disclaimer with further information here.

How to be Vetted for a Volunteer Role during COVID-19

The Garda National Vetting Bureau (GNVB) has recently received many COVID-19 related queries from members of the public, inquiring about how they can volunteer in their community and how they are vetted for such roles.
Vetting for volunteer roles is coordinated by Volunteer Organisations registered with GNVB as a Relevant Organisation. Not all Volunteering roles will require Garda Vetting, but if the position you are volunteering for does require it, the vetting will be organised through your Local Volunteer Centre. All valid COVID-19 related vetting applications received at GNVB from Relevant Organisations are currently being processed within 2 working days.

In relation to the postal operatives checking in on older and vulnerable people on their daily routes, An Post have added an additional element to this initiative.
