National Return to Work Safely Protocol
The Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys TD, has published the National “Return to Work Safely Protocol” on Saturday, 9th May 2020. The Protocol clearly and comprehensively sets out the steps and processes that businesses must take to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace.

The Return to Work Safely Protocol is available online at Return to Work Safely Protocol. If employers or employees need further guidance on the Protocol, the HSA Helpline can be contacted at 1890 289 389 or wcu@hsa.ie.

Mental Health IrelandFamily Wellbeing Toolkit
Mental Health Ireland have developed a Family Wellbeing Toolkit to support families at this time, resources include a toolkit and a weekly planner.

HSE Alcohol Resources During COVID-19
Information and supports for people who drink alcohol are particularly important at this time. Recent data from a survey conducted by the CSO found that 22% of adults who drink are consuming more alcohol since the introduction of COVID-19 restrictions, and 17% reported a decrease. An increase in consumption of alcohol was registered in younger people who were unemployed prior to and since COVID-19, living in urban areas, feeling depressed or lonely, or very concerned about household stress due to confinement.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the HSE Alcohol Programme in Health and Wellbeing has developed a number of resources that include:

FREE SUPPORT FROM CROÍ’S COMMUNITY SPECIALIST HEALTH TEAM
Croí have launched HeartLink West, a new FREE daily support service that is connecting people living with heart disease and stroke with nurses, dietitians, physios and exercise specialists.

SeniorLine Helpline
A Programme of Third Age

FREEPHONE 1800 80 45 91 Open 10am to 10pm every day
Established 22 years ago, SeniorLine is the national peer-to-peer and confidential Freephone service offering a listening ear, befriending and guidance support to older people. Open 365 days a year, from 10am to 10pm, this cost-effective service is provided by 179 professionally trained older volunteers.

During the COVID-19 crisis, SeniorLine has continued its broad range of work as well as preparing and supporting their volunteers to deal with the new and ongoing issues. Current callers are experiencing practical and emotional difficulties, and in some cases, their mental health is being negatively impacted by the current situation.

SeniorLine volunteers are supporting all to understand and adapt to a continuously changing situation and to take advantage of community supports and services. This work continues as we move into the future. Find out more here.

Creative Places Tuam Artist Bursary Award 
Community Solidarity Through Collaborative Practices

Deadline for Applications: 5.00pm, Wednesday 3rd June 2020  

Creative Places Tuam, the programme led by Create – the national development agency for collaborative arts, is seeking applications from artists connected to the Tuam area whose collaborative socially engaged practice has been disrupted due to the COVID-19 restrictions.Creative Places Tuam Artist Bursary

In recognition of the challenge posed to artists continuing collaborative projects in a time of physical distancing Create are offering three awards of €3,000 each to support the creation of methodologies of practice, reflective ways of thinking and creative means of communication with communities.

The Creative Places Tuam Artist Bursary is open to all artforms and it duration is envisioned to be between 3 and 6 months.

Change Our Streets Campaign
Galway City

Change Our Streets is a new campaign that, in acknowledging that social distancing will be with us for months, offers many suggestions on how the streets in Galway city can be changed to make the city centre and the residential areas safer and more pleasant for people of all ages and abilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the campaign, an Open Letter was sent to Galway City Council inviting the Local Authority to begin a creative conversation to Change Our Streets. The letter was written by Galway Cycling Campaign and signed by GCCN and other near-200 co-signatories.

If you wish to support the campaign and get involved as someone who lives or works in Galway, you are invited to continue to add your name and your organisations’ name to the list of supporters <as a comment> in the letter the link here.

My Inspirational Older Person Competition
Age & Opportunity are asking all kids, big and small to tell them about an inspirational older person in their life as part of their new competition. You can do this through a number of different art forms including drawings, poems, stories, songs or dance to name a few.
There are 5 different categories with the chance to win some great family days out in the future.

COVID-19 Emergency Funding
Approved by Galway City Council

 
Galway City Council has approved grants totalling €29,180 under the COVID-19 Emergency Fund to support a wide range of local community and voluntary groups and organisations operating throughout Galway City involved in the delivery of COVID-19 community response efforts. Read more here.

COVID-19 Perinatal Online Talk
Tuesday 19th May 2020 at 11am 
If you are expecting a baby or have recently had a baby, the HSE would like to invite you to this online talk that will explore common anxieties and sources of stress associated with having a baby during COVID-19 as well as specific practical and psychological support strategies that can help you best manage and care for yourself and your newborn.
This is a free online event with HSE Senior Clinical Psychologist Dr Jeananne Garavan Tuesday May 19th ar 11am.
