Greetings from iNaturewatch Foundation!
Forthcoming Eco-day

International Day for Biological Diversity
  (22 May )

Theme:  "Celebrating 25 Years of Action for Biodiversity"

Biodiversity is the shortened form of two words "biological" and "diversity." It refers to all the variety of life that can be found on Earth (plants, animals, fungi, and micro-organisms) as well as to the communities that they form and the habitats in which they live.
The theme was chosen to mark the 25th anniversary of the entry into force of the Convention on Biological Diversity and to highlight progress made in the achievement of its objectives at the national and global levels.
Biodiversity boosts ecosystem productivity where each species, no matter how small, all have an important role to play. The destruction of rainforest causes erosion, loss of valuable species and changes in climate.

This photo was clicked in Coastal and marine biodiversity center-Airoli, during the event 'Visit to Flamingo Sanctuary' on 15 April 2018 by our participant Mr. Sanjay Podder.
Flamingos or flamingoes are a type of wading bird. Adult bird is 3.3 - 4.6 feet tall and weigh between 3.3 - 9 pounds.
Color of their feather is result of their diet: pigments in their food (called carotenoids) are responsible for red and pink colors of their feathers.

Send us your pictures taken during our trail/camp and the best photo stands chance to be featured in the next issue of iNaturewatch Foundation's newsletter.
