Animal Welfare Fortnight
  (14 January -24 January)


The Animal Welfare Fortnight is celebrated every year from January 14 to January 30 to create awareness in the civic society to create awareness to treat all animal life with respect kindness and compassion. 

Why Animal Welfare Fortnight celebrate?
  • It is the obligation of human beings not to abuse and exploit animals for their greed.
  • the animals are treated humanely and with compassion
  • preventing cruelty to animals.
The aim of Animal Welfare Fortnight celebration in 2018 is to sensitize and create more awareness on animal welfare issue among the general public, law enforcing authorities and all concerned.

7th January 2018: Creekwatch in Navi Mumbai


For all the bird lovers iNaturewatch Foundation is organizing a  bird watching trail at Karawe, for beginners. Here you will learn to identify various species of wetland birds and understand their behavior in nature.

Venue: Karawe, Seawood Wetland

Programme Fees:

21 January 2018: Mangrove walk at Bhandup Pumping Station

Mangroves are home to some very specialized life forms, besides being a treasure house of an amazing diversity of flora and fauna. It may appear unbelievable that a mere group of plants could have such an interesting existence right near a city.  Join us to walk along the mangrove forest to see it yourself!

Bannerghatta National Park is one of the few places in the world where wilderness is preserved so close to a big city. This nature walk, besides being aimed to create awareness on nature conservation,  will bring you closer to this unique forest.  We invite you to take a walk with us in this forest and explore.

This photo was clicked in Girgaon Chowpatty, Mumbai, during Marine Biodiversity Walk on 30 December, 2017 by our participant Mr. Bhavik Thaker.
It is a species of large sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Melongenidae, the crown conches and their allies. Many mollusks lay their eggs in elaborately arranged clusters, often with some form of protective casing.

10 December 2017: Birding for beginnerss at Kharghar Hills
We conducted a bird walk at Kharghar Hills on 10th December 2017. The walk was attended by 15 enthusiastic bird watchers. The group was guided by Mr. Hardik Patel. We spotted around 15 different species of the birds.

 
13 December 2017: Insect Study Tour for Mumbai Mobile Creche's Teachers
we conducted a nature trail for 35 Mumbai Mobile Creches (MMC) trainees at Green Valley Park, Belapur CBD. The trainees had a great time learning about Insects.

30 December 2017: Marine Biodiversity Walk @ Girgaon Chowpatty
we conducted marine biodiversity walk at Girgaon Chowpatty with 10 marine enthusiasts.A marine walk was amazing at every step that we took with all the fascinating animals to which it is home. The group was guided by Mr. Pradip Patade and Vighnesh Samel.

16 December 2017: Birding Break at Thurahalli Forest Tree Park
A free 2 hours bird watching programme was organized at the Thurahalli Forest Tree Park in collaboration with the Karnataka Forest Department. 31 participants attended the walk. Mr. Madhusudhan Shukla and Mr. Harish Chandra conducted the trail for us.

17 December 2017: Bird Bash at Ramanagaram
An enthusiastic group of 7 people participated in the walk. The group was guided by Mr. Madhusudhan Shukla. 

 

24 December 2017: Bird Bonanza for Beginners
We conducted bird watching trail at Thurahalli Forest tree park in collaboration with the Karnataka Forest Department.More Than 45 People participated, in the trail. The group was divided into two; the first group was led by Ms. Deepa Mohan and the second group was led by Mr. Ulhas Anand.

30 December 2017: Butterfly Walk at Jarakbande Kaval Forest
Free butterfly walk was conducted at Jarakbande Kaval Forest. The walk was attended by 13 participants. The walk was lead by Mr. Ashok Sengupta and volunteered by Mr. Sundar Raj. The participants enjoyed the walk as many found it to be very informative.
