Legislative Session Week 5

I hope everyone is safe and warm the intense snow we received this week.  While the storm caused issues it is great to have more snowpack this year.  Week 5 of the legislative session brought exciting progress for some of the bills I am sponsoring, details are below.

We are gearing up for the final 2-week sprint of the legislative session. There is still a lot of work to be done in the next 2 weeks, but I am optimistic about the progress of the session so far.

Thank you for all your emails, texts, and participation in town hall meetings.  I appreciate the input and feedback.  It is an honor to serve HD 32.

Please join us for a town hall tomorrow morning at 10 am via Zoom! We will be joined by informed citizens and members of the Road Home who will present information about the issue of homelessness in Utah. Click below for the zoom link.

Survey Results:

2021 Legislative Priorities
I am incredibly grateful that 279 constituents completed our "2021 Legislative Priorities" survey and wanted to share some of the results with you.

I also recognize that COVID-19 has had a deep and lasting impact on so many of our lives and livelihood. Nearly 1/3 of survey respondents have experienced job/income loss in the past year. Many also expressed concern about our state's response to this pandemic.

I promise to keep working for you and our entire #HD32 family. We will get through this tumultuous time together.

In addition to the information above, this survey gave me the opportunity to learn about numerous other issues that you care about. To all of you who responded, thank you. As always, you can reach out to me any time at
I am proud to be a co-sponsor of Rep Ashlee Matthews’ bill to help more working families afford childcare. HB277 passed unanimously in the House & is on to the Senate.

Thank you to the many advocates working to support working families!
Great news! Utahns ages 65-69 are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine! Schedule your appointment at the link.

Thanks to Governor Cox, Lieutenant Governor Henderson
& our Health Departments throughout the state for their diligent work in getting vaccines in as many arms as possible!

On to the Senate! HB 194, National Diabetes Prevention Program, successfully passed out of the Utah House. Now we wait for the Senate's vote before it is passed onto the Governor for official signing into law.

This bill will help more Utahns take control of their own health and reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes. This will improve health and save money.
Intern Corner

I can't believe we are already at week 5! This session is flying by. This was another exciting week of committees, floor times, and bill presentations.

I only survived the crazy snow of this week with $1 vending machine hot chocolate from the train station.

This week I worked with Representative Lesser, the other representative I intern for, on a bill that will help homeless individuals obtain state IDs. She presented her bill this week and it received unanimous support from the committee.

It has been so fun to track the progress of all the bills that Representative Harrison and Lesser are sponsoring. Both have such important and impactful bills and I am so honored to be a part of this process with them.
