A $2,500 Share a Night Room Sponsorship Program grant was awarded to the Ronald McDonald House from the Azura Credit Union Employees Foundation Fund. We received a call to say they were delivering cookies for our families; the Azura team surprised us with a big check, too! These funds will support 100 nights' stay for one or more families.
The third annual "Fill the Ronald McDonald House Pantry" drive was again sponsored Seabrook Apple Market, Cumulus-Topeka and KSNT. From famine to feast we went, collecting multiple carloads of pantry and household items, $350 in Apple Market gift cards and $592 in cash and checks! Thank you to everyone who contributed, and especially to our friends at the sponsoring organizations for making a difference and supporting our RMHC families.
This fall we received a $10,000 Share a Night Room Sponsorship Program Grant from the 20/30 Club of Topeka, our largest grant award of late! The 20/30 Club's mission is to enrich the community of Topeka by investing time, effort and dollars to meaningful youth programs. We are blessed to be selected for funding.
Congratulations to Glenda Ridgeway for winning this gorgeous queen-sized quilt donated by Kathy Pflaum and Kelly Warren, which is valued at $3,000. It’s a very special 10-year anniversary quilt pattern created by Wing & a Prayer Design. Originally released in 2009, the quilt pattern has been updated with fresh block designs and piecing techniques to reflect today's quilting styles, yet it maintains the original traditional styling and beautifully appliquéd flowers and vines. The quilt raffle brought in a total of $1,100, which will cover 44 nights' stay for one or more families. What a wonderful fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House!
We received an unexpected windfall from the Kansas State Treasurer's Office - a check for $680.50 in unclaimed property. These funds were collected from various donors over the years. Thank you to State Treasurer Jake LaTurner and his team for tracking us down and lending support throughout the process.
In partnership with the NFL's Huddle for 100 Initiative, participants in the Capper Foundation's Adult Day Services Program huddled together and donated 100 minutes of volunteer time at the Ronald McDonald House! This national event celebrated the league's 100th season of professional football. The Capper volunteers proudly represented their favorite teams and players as they helped beautify our grounds.
Our fantastic friends from Alpha Delta Kappa decorated the Ronald McDonald House for Christmas again this year! We appreciate them helping assure the holiday spirit is alive and well for our families.
