20th November: 0-12 years Christmas Party – registrations now open!


We are delighted to announce that our children’s Christmas party will be held on 20th November at Kiwi Valley Farm.  This event is for ADSA families who have a child with Down syndrome age between 0-12.  Siblings may also attend.  All details are at the Eventbrite link.

Central/East Auckland Hui.


Are you a family member who has a child leaving school in the next 4 years or has already left school . Do you have questions regarding their future, want to understand the process when a person finishes school and another other questions. You are very welcome to attend.  We HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Māpura Studios


Māpura Studios is a creative space located in central Auckland with satellite groups in other areas.  They offer inclusive, multi-modal art classes and art therapy programmes for people of all ages, diversity and need, as well as the wider community. These include visual art, music, cartooning, dance, performance and therapy programmes.

NZDSA Online Conference – FANTASTIC SPEAKERS!


We really encourage you to take some time to look at the NZDSA virtual conference calendar and join in some of the great online sessions this month.
 
There is something here for every family – whatever stage you are at.  These will NOT be recorded- so please try and make time to join at the scheduled time.  Saturday 15 is a RARE opportunity to hear Dr Brian Skotko - a geneticist and director of the Down Syndrome Program at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.)  Just typing his name into google, will convince you to attend!

Our friends over at UpsideDowns have put together an amazing cookbook with recipes provided by people with Down syndrome from all over NZ.  These are $35 each and 100% of money raised goes back to providing speech therapy for people with Down syndrome.  It’s a win/win.  Great for a Christmas gift too.  Order here: UpsideDowns Recipe Book Order

Carer support & Individualised Funding (IF) - flexibility extended


It has been announced that the flexibility on use of these funds is extended until end February 2023.  Flexibility on Carer Support and IF Announcement
 
NOW is a great time to have a needs assessment and get some respite funding.  Don’t delay.  If you have applied and haven’t heard!  Chase it up!
