Bike Ottawa Bike Social & AGM 2018

Our Fall Bike Social & AGM and our Spring.Bike.Ottawa events are considered a highlight in bike advocacy by many in Ottawa. This year our AGM is on October 1. Read more:
Our evening starts with the Bike Social: we'll have a number of speakers, updates from what we have been doing, food, tables with info by other Ottawa organisations and so on. Meet friends and catch up with the latest.

Speakers

Introductory remarks: Giacomo Panico, CBC radio journalist

Giacomo Panico, CBC radio journalist, host of In Town And Out, and possibly the best-known cyclist in Ottawa radio will do the introductory remarks. Giacomo is known for lugging a bicycle powered grill behind his bike to a RedBlacks game one summer.

Keynote speaker: Darnel Harris (Canada Bikes)

This year, we invited Darnel Harris of Canada Bikes as our keynote speaker.
Darnel is a community advocate who enjoys animating spaces and sustainability mobility projects. His Master’s Major Project, "Breaking Down the Barriers to Biking in the Black Creek Area", created a community action plan for practical suburban biking, and led to Toronto City Council approving a Community Bike Centre near York University.

Darnel’s sustainability efforts to create a Mobility Greenway in Toronto’s northwest, including a wide mobility pathway and flood barrier, was honoured with the 2016 Green Talents Award from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

But that's not all...

Round it off with updates from Bike Ottawa's advocacy and data teams, information tables for cycling, ecology and transit groups across the city, and a chance to catch up with other bike-minded people in your city, and what are you waiting for?

Food and drinks

We start early. To avoid cycling home and then back into town, we offer free wraps prepared by Krackers Katering (Great Food for the Greater Good) our long time partner and part of Causeway Work Centre. We have coffee and drinks too, but no alcohol this time.
