Local Government and CYPSC
Children and young people make up about 30% of the population in Irish communities.  It is important that they are placed at the centre of decision-making about matters that impact their lives.  Guidance on how CYPSC and Local Community Development Committees can work together in the interests of children and young people is now available.

Local CYPSC News
Growing up with the internet
Galway CYPSC and Roscommon CYPSC recently held an event highlighting the need for collaborative initiatives to protect children online.  It is essential for parents and professionals who work with children and young people to educate themselves on both the positives and the potential risks associated with the internet.

Limerick's “Think-In” on Children’s Data 
Limerick CYPSC is developing its thinking about how it can use publicly available data more.  It is doing this through collective conversations about outcome data in order to deepen local understandings of children and young people’s needs and apply an evidence-informed approach to service planning.

Well-being for Cork's school children
Cork CYPSC met the Minster for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton TD at an education briefing in Cork.  There they took the opportunity to emphasise how the social and emotional well-being of children and young people can be supported through agencies coming to the CYPSC table and working together.

Dynamic Dublin
Dublin City North is a diverse and developing area.  The local CYPSC has published a Service Mapping and Community Consultation Report as a starting point in naming the area’s strengths and priorities in order to activate CYPSC responses to the needs of children and young people in the area.

Donegal's reading movement
READ DL has grown in strength from it’s beginnings as an initiative of Donegal CYPSC Education & Learning Sub-committee. It is now part of the global ‘One Book One Community’ initiative and has become an integral part of community life in Donegal.

Education moves
Children and young people experience a number of key transitions in their journey from childhood to adulthood including from primary school to post-primary school. New resources have been designed in County Meath to support young peoples' transitions.

Learning about prevention and early intervention
A new series of short evidence summaries is now available.  These outline learning from programmes implemented in Ireland and Northern Ireland to improve children’s health, learning and behaviour.

The State of the Nation’s Children Report: Ireland 2016 has just been published by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs and is a valuable reference and resource for CYPSC planning and reporting.
