direct from our farmers this weekend:
dark greens, pink oranges and sturdy birds

Dark greens: Oz Fresh Herbs grow a range of winter greens from tender leaves for salads to sturdy kales for braises and bakes on their farm in Gippsland.  Find the bunch to suit your tastes at Collingwood.

Pink oranges: Cara Cara pink navel oranges are sweet and tangy, with rose coloured flesh that’s delicious in salads and juices.  They have a short season so catch up with Kingfisher Citrus for this seasonal citrus at Bendigo, Collingwood, Berwick, Alphington or Eltham.

Sturdy birds: Milawa Free Range Poultry rear healthy chickens and ducks in clean free-range conditions on their farm in Milawa and have been bringing their birds direct to farmers’ markets for years.  Get in early to pick up their quality fresh poultry at Collingwood.

Collingwood Children’s Farm Farmers’ Market

Collingwood Children’s Farm
St Heliers Street
Abbotsford, VIC 3067

Saturday July 13th
8am – 1pm
Entry $2

Collingwood Children’s Farm Farmers Market is held on the second Saturday every month, one of a circuit of accredited farmers’ markets in the City of Yarra, including first Saturday at Carlton North Primary, and fourth Saturday at Abbotsford Convent.

At the July markets you’ll find seasonal fruit and vegies including pumpkins, mandarins, mushrooms, spuds, avocadoes and apples all direct from the growers. Stock up on hearty winter greens from Gippsland producers Oz Fresh.  Proteins are sorted by free-range farmers and fishers such as Mike from Westernport Mussels. And to meet Melbourne’s brekkie expectations, you can rely on great coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, toasties and Q le Baker and his French artisanal pastries.

These markets are committed to going waste free so don’t forget to BYO. If you forget your own, you can Boomerang Bag it, and borrow a cup to just drop it back to the Wash Against Waste station nearby.
