“Good apple pies are a considerable part of our domestic happiness,” Jane Austen wrote. I'm not sure if Jane was a noted cook but she certainly knew a thing or two about domestic happiness.

Julie and Bruno Delgrosso and their family grow fruit at beautiful Red Hill, less than 100km from Melbourne's CBD. Apples, pears, rhubarb, lemons, garlic, chilli, plums, cherries and figs grow seasonally through the year. Proximity is an integral part of a big, modern city feeding itself responsibly.

If lockdown is doing your head in, an apple pie is sure to contribute to your family's domestic happiness this week.

Apples, pears, eggs, rhubarb, lemons can all see their way into a good apple pie and are easy to find at your local, VFMA-accredited farmers' market. Here's Jamie Oliver's take on a classic apple pie or click here for more ideas.

Use the QR codes to check in at the market, don't forget your bags and mask and have a great weekend!
