direct from our farmers this week:
artichokes, celtuce and mushrooms

Stems and flowers: Day’s Walk Farm always seems to have something a little different to try, like celtuce stems that taste nutty and are excellent brined or added to stir-fries.  The larger artichokes they’re harvesting also have edible stems along with the flowers – try them peeled and roasted.  They’ll be at Coburg.

Oyster mushrooms: Freshly harvested golden, tan and pink oyster mushrooms from Margaret’s Mushrooms hold their shape and intensify in flavour when cooked – they’re also delicious pickled in brine.  Look out for them at Bonbeach on Sunday.
