walnut roulade, long red tropeas, scarlet radishes

New season: While Day’s Walk Farm’s newly-harvested red and brown onions are curing, make the most of Spanish White or red Long Tropea salad onions in dressings, quick pickles and on the grill.  Find them at Coburg.
In abundance: Crisp scarlet and spicy radishes from Spring Creek Organics are in abundance at the moment.  For a twist on a classic recipe, shred and mix them with butter and salt to serve with crusty bread. Pick up a bunch at Coburg and Flemington.
Sweet paste: The walnut and date roulade from Boonderoo Farm is made with walnuts, almonds and lemon all grown on the property.  The soft, nutty paste is delicious sliced for petit fours or served with cheese.  They’ll be at the Bendigo Midweek market this Thursday evening (if you hurry, you could still get there) and also at Daylesford.
