49 hours to raise enough to publish farming democracy

The Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance recently launched their crowdfunding campaign to publish the book they've been working on this past year - Farming Democracy: The True Cost of Farming

They're into the last two-day stretch to raise enough to publish this book that tells the story of family farms doing things differently, working for a ‘new normal’ in agriculture that is fair to soil, water, animals, and people.  They're so close now - can you share this with your friends?

These farmers are building regenerative, agroecological systems that are viable in an epoch that has seen a sharp decline in the number of farms globally.

"We want to open the farm gates, open the books, and open our hearts to the community and let the world see the true work, rewards, and costs of farming!"

Pledges start at $20 for a copy of the e-book.

(Our current favourite is the pledge that includes the book and a ticket to the Farm Day Out Festival!)

sparkling wine, tasty pistachios, fresh chicken

Organic bubbles: The certified organic sparkling wine from Kangaroo Hills Organic Farm is a little different – it’s made solely from pinot grigio rather than the more usual blend of chardonnay and pinot noir.  A favourite of the winemakers, the 2017 release will be on sale at the Castlemaine Twilight Market.

Last chance: Hi-Fye Pistachios grow many different types of pistachios, each with its own distinct flavor, selected largely from Northern India and Iran. They’re grown with minimal irrigation to keep them lean and delicious. Taste the range at the Castlemaine Twilight Market - the last market for Hi-Fye until March 2019.

Stock up: Poaching whole pasture-fed fresh chicken is a great way to show off its flavor.  The meadow-grazed birds reared by Yapunyah weigh between 2-3 kilos, providing plenty of cold chicken for sandwiches as well as a light stock for soups. Find them at Carlton and Flemington.
