pomegranates, quince and gnocchi

Edible jewels: The Pomegranate Farm is coming to the end of their season, with Veg Out this weekend likely to be their last market.  Pick up some whole fruit, a shot or a bottle of freshly squeezed juice, or their pomegranate molasses for a splash of colour and tang.

Ruby quince: Follow the apple-like perfume of ripening Champion and Smyrna quinces to Baw Baw Organic’s stall at Veg Out.  Once poached or roasted, the fruit works well in fruit bakes and in savoury braises.  Pick up their quince jam or paste for a quick fix of this season’s fruit.

Pasta masters: With the launch of their gnoccheria in Coburg, Take Me Home Pasta now has an ever-evolving range of gnocchi to bring to the markets.  New flavours spotted on the stall recently include lemon, and green olive with goats’ cheese.  They’re at Veg Out this weekend.

melbourne food hub open day

This coming Sunday the team from Melbourne Farmers' Markets would love you to join them at the Melbourne Food Hub so they can show you what they've been up to since their launch in May 2018. Most of you will be familiar with the Alphington Farmers Market but what isn't immediately apparent on market day are all the other projects that take place on the site.

They'll be running the market from 9am-3pm (an extra 2 hours) plus hosting site tours. Head along and enjoy live music and face painting as well as workshops for the kids. Please see the facebook event page for the full listing for events.
