kiwiberries, chocomates and cold-cut roasts

Kiwiberries: The tiny tangy kiwifruit cousins are back in season, in all the shades of green and crimson.  Pick up a punnet from Kiwiberry Australia at Boroondara this Saturday.

Truss tomatoes: How sweet do you like them?  Cherry tomatoes are the sweetest but the large salad tomato ‘chocomate’ comes close.  Catch up with Yendon Gourmet for their full hydroponic range at Boroondara and Flemington this weekend.

Cold cut roasts: Miramonte Farm medium-roasts their girello beef wrapped in herbs, salt and pepper and then chills it to sell as cold-cut roasts.  Grab a portion or two, enough for a couple of days’ lunches, at Coburg, Eltham or University of Melbourne.

Boroondara Farmers’ Market
Patterson Reserve, Auburn Road
Saturday March 30
8am – 1pm
Gold coin donation towards Rotary projects
The Boroondara Farmers’ Market is held on the 3rd and 5th Saturdays on the edge of Patterson Reserve in Hawthorn.  This is a big market, so best to start with an Australian-grown coffee from the team on the Eureka stall.  Provisions for the week are all here and there’s plenty of parking.  Once the basics are covered, browse the value-added produce to make meals extra-special – maybe ready-to-heat falafels from Bite Me, fresh filled pasta from The Pasta House or family-sized pies from Chef’s Fine Food.

The Village Feast: Jindivick March 30

Melbourne Food and Wine Festival event "The Village Feast" will run from 12pm-9pm in Jindivick on Saturday March 30.

It's a great chance to explore a rural Victorian town and catch up with some of our VFMA-accredited producers from the region too.  Look out for Allambee Flower Farm, Gippsland Jersey, Kingfisher Citrus, Sunny Creek Organic, St Fiacres Farm, Oz Fresh Herbs and Murray & Love Gourmet Foods.

Located just over one hour from Melbourne, the tiny town of Jindivick can be reached quickly and easily by car or public transport. Take the family or round up your squad and make a day of it.  A day pass gets you entry to The Village Feast, where multiple pop-up stalls will line the streets offering exceptional food, drink and produce (for purchase) complemented by entertainment including a town fair for kids, competitions and live music.

Children 12 and under attend free (but they must have a ticket to gain entry). Under-18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
