Asheville Workplace Challenge Newsletter                                                              Volume 1 - Date 08/01/16

How is the Challenge going?

The Asheville Workplace Challenge (AWC) is off to a great start! We really appreciate your workplace being part of this new adventure. Our goal is to reach at least 100 participating businesses and organizations by the end of the Challenge. To allow more time to reach our goal, we have decided to push back the end date of the Challenge to March, 2017. This is good news, as it gives you more time to work on improving your Green Scorecard.

We have also been in the process of updating the Green Scorecard Survey to include more questions, which means more opportunities for participants to earn points. If you have not updated your Scorecards recently, you may want to check in to answer these new questions.

Call for Outreach & Feedback

In order to make the AWC as successful as possible it is important that we have as many participants as possible. Did you know you get points on your Green Scorecard for referring other businesses to join?

The AWC would greatly appreciate your workplace's help spreading the AWC word and getting other organizations to join. Whether it's by word of mouth, hanging a sign, including us in a newsletter, or some other way of sharing the Challenge, every little bit of promotion helps. If you would like some signage for your workplace to show off their AWC efforts, please contact us at HMahoney@ashevillenc.gov. Also, do not forget to earn points by updating your Scorecard if you get another workplace to join.

On another note, if your workplace has any feedback on how we can improve and/promote the AWC, we want to hear it! Even if you do not have specific suggestions, please feel free to contact us and share your Challenge thoughts.

Show Asheville your workplace is a proud participant!

Here is an example of the window cling signage the AWC can provide your workplace with to highlight participation.

Featured Participant:
Deltec Homes is a family-owned company here in Asheville, NC. Their mission is to create innovative, high-performance round homes and net-zero energy homes with a commitment to quality, strength and sustainability. Their business is B Corporation Certified, Living Wage Certified, and a member of the WNC Green Building Council.

Deltec Homes has joined the AWC, and currently have a Gold-rated Green Score. They are our featured participant this month, because they are already making improvements to their impressive Gold score through Greening up their workplace further. By hanging these "no-idling" signs in their parking lot, Deltec Homes is encouraging their customers, partners, and employees to lower their carbon footprints through reducing emissions.

Thank you Deltec Homes, and keep up the good work!

These signs were provided by the Land of Sky - Clean Air Coalition for AWC participants to use. You can earn points on your Scorecard by hanging these signs. Please email the AWC for more information on how you can get one or more of these signs for your workplace(s).
