|Hello The Ones!
We hope all is well!
Welcome to the latest weekly note, where we share the 3-5 things that have us thinking. The consistent theme here is developing our knowledge and understanding of the world, in order to build a more conscious, intentional existence. Keeping the mind alert, our curiosity alive, our capability for critical thought unencumbered - these are the essential daily habits which we seek to cultivate by tuning into such ideas as below.
WATCH: Star Stuff: The Story of Carl Sagan, a short film that poetically depicts the early beginnings of the great thinker and physicist Carl Sagan. We'll be sharing this with our nieces and nephews too. You'll have a new found appreciation for the night's sky. Awe and wonder await...
A Quote from #TheLearner: 'If you get stuck, draw with a different pen. Change your tools; it may free your thinking.’ Paul Arden | p.14
Read: In our thinking the future of the world is www. We don't mean the world wide web, but rather the wild wild west. This article on futurism.com looks into the potential opening of Pandora's box when it comes to gene editing. Inequality has been a firm feature of the human race since time immemorial, what if we went further and brought it into the womb? This throws up questions of ethics, eugenics and what it means to be human itself.
Listen: Stimulation and creativity can come from all areas in life. Picasso loved the music and showmanship of bullfights, as well as the traditional carnivals and fairs of Catalonia. He also admired local flamenco music, cante jondo (deep song) and gypsy music, and later his series of works in 1912-14 on the guitar specifically would express this fascination. One singer he especially admired was Germaine Montego. To get into the mind and heart of a great master, the music he loved is one sure time machine. Listen here. High drama for a Wednesday.
That's all for now. Remember, stay curious and keep learning!
