Happy Thanksgiving from LAMBO! We hope you are all staying safe and healthy. And get out there and ride! Important events coming up - mark your calendar and visit LAMBOriders.org for more information.
  • Fatbikes by Candlelight at the Zip, Dec. 30
  • Fatathlon and Cornhole Fat Bike Event at Shannon Lake, Jan. 2
  • Rip, Zip and Sip Fat Bike Race at the Zip, Feb. 20
We've been busy these last couple of months!
  • We put in several hundred hours of hard work at WinMan, helping Travis Bellman Home and Trails cut and refine a brand new trail segment called LAMBO spur. It was a fantastic partnership with LAMBO volunteers who know all about what it takes to build some epic mountain bike trails. In exchange for the hard work WinMan donated generously to the LAMBO trail building funds.
  • A small crew recently hiked five miles at Musky Mountain, some of the "best mountain biking terrain anywhere in Northern Wisconsin." That's right! Plans are in place for up to 15 miles of new trails in the Sayner area. Fundraising in 2021 will be focused on raising the capital for this expansion.
  • Zip Snowshoe Trails are in the works! Volunteers are putting in signage early to mark the trails and we'll have maps available this year. There will be a 1 mile and 2 mile loop. Donations appreciated to pay for the signs.
  • And folks were busy with trail improvement at Shannon Lake, prepping the LAMBarn for winter, and fixing up our grooming equipment, thanks to donations from Minocqua Tire and Auto.

And finally, it’s transition time, from summer mountain biking to winter fat biking and trail conditions will vary greatly due to shifts in temperatures. Below freezing conditions help keep the trail hard and super rideable, but thawing temps during the day can make it a slippery, muddy mess, even without any rain at all! As the ground thaws it releases moisture that has no place to go.

What does that mean for the Zip and riding? Ride on! But pay attention and ride smart. Bike early in the morning while the ground is still frozen. Ride a fat tire bike to minimize slippage on mud and ice and to prevent damaging the trails. If you’re leaving ruts, please stop and come back after a cold spell.

We plan to leave the trail open and trust our riders to make the right decision! And as always, help us continue to build, maintain and groom awesome trails in the Lakeland area!

What's PLANNED?
  • Pump Track at the Zip - Plans and funds are coming together for a pump track at the Zip. We are actively looking for sponsorship and support!
  • Musky Mountain Trial System Campaign - LAMBO is expanding out to the Musky Mountain area with a 5 year trail building plan and fundraising efforts will be extensive. If anyone has tips for grants, super donors or business sponsors, please email.
LAMBO Spotlight on our Awesome Sponsors and Business Members
Rick Neis of Muskyland Plumbing began mountain biking about 2 ½ years ago. Like many of us, he found it much easier on his knees than running.  Rick used to race BMX in his younger years so it was a natural transition. After a year of biking with the club,  Muskyland Plumbing became a business member this past summer.  Rick says it’s important to give back to the community and to the sport.  He is very active in maintaining the Hidden Lakes trails which he says are close to home.

Muskyland Plumbing is a fourth generation family business with roots that go back to 1902 in Milwaukee.  Rick says that the business has been in the northwoods since 1972. They specialize in commercial and residential plumbing, septic system installation and maintenance and water treatment.  LAMBO is excited to partner with Rick and Muskyland Plumbing and look forward to branching out to the Eagle River area.
We love trails of all types and the Lakeleand area offers so many opportunities. Your support helps us build &maintain trails for public use year around. And we're a friendly bunch and always welcome new members! Join us for a meeting to learn more.
