Last Friday the House of Commons rose for the summer, and is set to return in September. I have had a great experience in Ottawa and in Saskatoon serving the people of Saskatoon Grasswood for the past 8 months. Throughout the session I have been working hard to hold the government accountable through my work as the Deputy Critic for Canadian Heritage and National Historic Sites on the Heritage Committee. I have been meeting with many community leaders from across the country and in our riding of Saskatoon Grasswood. A thrill of mine was to introduce my Private Members Bill in the House earlier this year.
In the last week of Parliament two bills were passed, Bill C-210 [An Act to amend the National Anthem (gender)] and Bill C-14 [An Act to Amend the Criminal Code] (regarding assisted dying). For more information on these bills and what I have done to listen and represent my constituents, please visit my website.
My Private Member`s Bill, C-241, an Act to Amend the Excise Tax Act] will be up for its second hour of debate on October 17th. If you haven`t already, please take a moment to sign the petition at: https://petitions.parl.gc.ca/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-389
This summer I will continue to listen to my constituents and their families regarding their concerns with the government, so please do not hesitate to stop by my office, give me a call or drop me an email.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to returning to the House this fall to be your strong voice in Ottawa.
